Wirecutter ranks the best available options, while Johnson is out here trying to invent new ones. He’s less a reviewer, more a human beta test. Whether he's a visionary or just a very rich guy afraid of dying, one thing is clear. He is making the rest of us question what optimal really looks like.

In the same way Wirecutter reviews lots of different products in a category and recommends their "top pick," so too does Bryan Johnson look at all the various ways to improve specific health metrics and provide a single "top pick" for imporoving them.

He'll say things like: "if you want to get the best sleep, do this. If you want to clean your teeth the best way, do this. If you want to exercise the most optimal way, do this." etc etc. Like Wirecutter, he's doing the research and coming back with the "best" way to do things, based on current research and science.

I'm a big fan of the Paper Mate InkJoy 700RT. About $2 apiece!

I’ve been interested in Function recently too. Sounds like you’ve liked the clarity it provides! I think i’ll try it too! It just sounds so powerful to know how to adjust your lifestyle towards longevity and good health

It's just nice to finally have access to *data* to support habits and changes. In the past, you could look at your weight and possibly body fat percent...and that was about it. Having this whole new range of metrics available it just super motivating in terms of building new longterm healthy habits (at least that's my expereince...~1.5 months in lol)
